WCAG 2.2 for ecommerce: five improvements that ease checkout
Practical keyboard, focus, form and touch-target fixes that make purchasing easier for more customers.
Complete a purchase without a mouse
Test the entire path from landing page to payment with a keyboard. Focus must remain visible, fixed elements must not obscure it, and navigation order should match the visual and task order.
Remove checkout friction
Increase small touch targets, maintain readable contrast and give every field a clear accessible name. Explain errors and how to fix them without relying on color alone, and avoid memory-based authentication barriers.
Test a real customer journey
Review search, product, cart and checkout on mobile and desktop. Combine automated checks with human keyboard and screen-reader testing, prioritizing barriers that prevent purchase completion.
